Little Big Town's "Pontoon" is #1 Digital Download

Little Big Town’s single “Pontoon” has sold over 86,000 downloads this week, making it their first number-one digital single in Country Music. Karen Fairchild says they knew when they heard it, that it was destined to be a “big, ole hit”...

Karen: "It just sounded like summertime, it sounded like fun, it sounded like a big, old hit and like a soundtrack to people's lives in the summertime. You know, what they'd want to listen to on their play list at the lake or the beach."

Jimi: "And it's different. It's all of that, but it's still different. I don't think you've heard this song before."

Karen: "No, you never heard all those words together."

Jimi: "No, you've never heard 'motorboating' in a song."

Little Big Town can sort of thank Miranda Lambert for making the songwriters create their hit song. Word is, Natalie Hemby and Luke Laird had initially written Miranda’s song, “Fine Tune”…but Natalie’s publisher mistakenly thought the song was called “Pontoon."  So Luke said, “Well, lets write that.” And so “Pontoon” was born.
