Toby Keith Calls on More Country Stars to Participate in USO Tours
Toby Keith has been playing for the troops overseas for a long time. This year is his 10th year of service with the USO…where Toby has played a 12-day, five country tour to the Middle East. And Toby says he’ll keep it up, but he wishes a lot more artists would do the tour…
Toby Keith: "You not only get to go serve your country and the people that serve it, and thank them, but it's just a great trip. It's unbelievable. And no one will go. What we hear back is 'We'll let Toby do that.' Well, Toby can't do it all. I can for two weeks a year and that's a lot, but I love to go. I get a big kick out of just checking it out, seeing stuff you might not have ever seen in your life."
Now, over the past decade, Toby has gone on nine USO tours, and played for well over 182,000 military folks. Toby was also instrumental in launching the USO2Go program, which delivers things like phone cards, musical instruments and hard-to-come-by food items like coffee and snacks to troops in remote and restricted areas.
