EXCLUSIVE!!! Matt Nathanson: His Sexy 'Run' with Sugarland!!!

If you watched the CMA’s last night…you probably felt the chemistry between Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and Matt Nathanson…

Their duet, called “Run” set the stage on fire! Well, Matt Nathanson is NOT a Country singer. But now...he may just be on his way to becoming a Country Star. I wanted to know more about the man behind the sexy moves, so I caught up with Matt before his electric Awards show performance…

Ashley Mann: “Matt, how did you hook up with Sugarland?”

Matt Nathanson: Couple years ago, I got a bunch of myspace posts..that said ‘I’m at red rocks in Colorado and Sugarland is covering your song. I kind of ignored it. The next night, ‘I’m in Phoenix and Sugarland is covering your song Come On Get Higher..I’m at the Sugarland concert. So then I get a text from Kristian and Jennifer the next day saying ‘we’re huge fans.’ Jennifer heard the song…Come On Get Higher on the radio…bought the record..put it in and was like, ‘Kristian you gotta hear this song..we gotta cover this song’ and then the next night, they covered it. And then they recorded it and put it as a bonus track on Love on the Inside, their last record. Then they were like, ‘you wanna come on tour?’ and I was like, ‘Sure!’…so I went out on tour with them..and they became pretty much my best friends.

Ashley Mann: “You don’t make Country records…what’s it like for you to sing to Country Music fans?

Matt Nathanson: “It’s great! When we went out on tour with Sugarland…people would say, ‘that must be weird, they’re Country. How does the audience react?” and it’s like…those are music fans. The people that come to Sugarland shows love music. I’ve never once felt like I didn’t belong.

Ashley Mann: “Jennifer, Kristian and you wrote this song, “Run”…and the song is…kinda sexy.”

Matt Nathanson: “That I’m aware of…that..uh..yeah. (laughs) That was kind of what just happened. We didn’t really go in with an intent.”

Ashley Mann: “You have this little ‘shake’ when y’all sing together. This may be a little bit…controversial.”

Matt Nathanson: (Laughs!) “I don’t know…it’s funny. I don’t know the Country world well enough to what could be considered controversial…especially at a time where Lady Gaga exists…”

Well you all can decide for yourselves if it's controversial or not. Either way, I have a feeling, Sugarland has another hit on their hands with this song. Welcome to Country Music, Matt! : )
