Ronnie Dunn was honored at a special invitation only party in Nashville last week…celebrating his amazing accomplishments as a songwriter…Ronnie Dunn’s written a catalog of hit songs that have been played more than 60 million times!!! That puts Ronnie in the same company as The Bee Gees and Merle Haggard! But Ronnie blames Garth Brooks for making him reach those numbers…
Ronnie Dunn: "You know, we were lucky to come along at a time when radio was at a peak... at a time when we were... a lot of us were riding the Garth wave.... that's how I ended up with those Bee Gees and Merle Haggard numbers, I think."
His list of hit songs is long…but the top played are some biggies…“Boot Scoothin’ Boogie” has been played 6 million times, and counting…”Brand New Man” has been played 3 million times, and counting…and his song, “Neon Moon” has hit over 4 million plays. So those numbers clearly show which songs are loved by fans.
I asked Ronnie out of all the songs he’s written or co-written in his career…which song is HE most proud of…
Ronnie Dunn: “I think "Neon Moon." And I say that selfishly 'cause I wrote it myself, and it's hung around for a long time.”
"Neon Moon" is a classic that has stood the test of time….and I have a feeling 4 million plays of that song…is just the beginning.
