It’s been nearly Two months since a fire destroyed Trace Adkin’s Brentwood home…and Trace is just now able to reflect on all he lost. The fire happened while he and his wife were away and the children were at home with a sitter. Luckily, no one was injured and Trace says, now the magnitude of what happened is just starting hit him...
Trace opened up to CMT about all that was lost in the fire saying, "Every day, you think of something else you lost, and those things just keep popping up, like someone smacking you again... Some things I wish I still had, but then you think of what could have been and you can't even let your mind go there."
Trace lost many sentimental items in the fire…including a guitar that was given to him by Country Legend Buck Owens. But according to Trace, you can add up all the material losses, but in the end…that stuff doesn’t really matter….
Trace Adkins: "As soon as I talked to Rhonda and I found out she was okay and the kids were okay, there's this huge sense of relief that comes over you, because then after that you realize that the rest of it is all just stuff."
As someone affected by last year’s flood, like many in Nashville…that is definitely something I can relate to…Trace is right....what matters most is that the family's OK.
