Naomi Judd slipped up at a press conference and told reporters that The Judds' TV reality series is actually STAGED!!! The country duo's six-part series was shot during The Judds' tour last fall. It's supposed to follow Wynonna and Naomi and document their mother-daughter relationship…giving us an inside-look both their personal lives AND their professional singing careers. The preview of the show promises that Judd's family secrets will be revealed on the show…
Well, Naomi admitted at this press conference that at least some scenes are staged, and a couple of the "setups" didn't turn out well, but they're in the series anyway. Naomi explained why they included the phony scenes, saying, she and Wynonna are both “recovering people pleasers”, and she said, “we went along with it and they had horrible outcomes...yet they wound up on camera because we don't get creative control."
A publicist for the network supposedly stopped Naomi from saying anything further…and according to the New York Post, Wynonna slammed her hand down on the table demanding that the show NOT be called a "REALITY" show. Wynonna said, “"Reality TV is often scripted by a guy who steps in and says 'Lets do this, let's put more emphasis on this' because they want to sensationalize," she said.
And according to Wynonna, their show did not go down that way…she said,"They are following us around, they get what they get and then they edit it."
Also, in Judd's news...Naomi Judd opened up about her own experience with sexual abuse. In the wake of her daughter, Ashley Judd's revealing memoir, in which Ashley tells how she was sexually abused as a child, Naomi reveals her first memory was when a man was trying to sexually abuse her when she was 3 1/2 years old.
